I am reading in the Gospel of John at the moment, I really enjoy reading John, I enjoy the side of Jesus he captured. In the beginning of chapter 9, a verse captivated me. It reads ‘Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.’
Though I don’t disagree that sin and iniquity does cause disease, that is not always the reason we get sick. What is more, we will never know why we, or someone else, is sick, unless the Holy Spirit very specifically reveals it to us. Sometimes God just wants to reveal His works in us.
What does that mean, revealing God’s works in us? That can be so far reaching. The most obvious answer is that His glory is revealed when He heals us. But so much of God’s glory is revealed in the process. The character He manages to form within us through the pain. The faith He builds in us as we await His healing in us, the trust that grows as we hand over our bodies and circumstances. The compassion we have one for another because we know what pain and discomfort feels like. All of this, not just the healing, brings glory to God, and reveals God’s works in us. That is miraculous all in itself, that the Creator of heaven and earth, is and wants to be involved in our day to day lives.
It is phenomenal what God can do when we hand over to Him. Keep in mind, that He gave us dominion, so He is involved in our lives where we have surrendered to Him. The enemy and the world speaks a lot of negativity over us continuously, we need to counter that by speaking His Word. God is my Healer, God is my Provider. Whatever we confess with our mouths according to His Word, He does.
