Psalms 91:1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I am in such need right now of that secret place, to be under the shadow of the Almighty. But I am such a human. I falter, and my humanness struggles to find the secret place, His shadow.
So what is the secret place, where is His shadow? Most mornings I pray Psalm 139 over my children. From verse 7 until verse 10 it reads: Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are the. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
That means no matter where I go, God is with me. Hebrews 13:5 says it word for word: Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.
So if God is always with me, why am I not in the secret place? It can only be because of me, because His word cannot lie. It must be because I do not perceive His presence, I do not perceive His cover and His peace. I am trusting in my own strength, in my own mind. I am not letting it go. I may very well be in His presence, I may even be aware of His presence, but I have dragged all my baggage in there with me, so I do not feel the lightening of the load.
The scripture says, as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. Prob 27:3. And furthermore in 2 Cor 10:5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
I must catch every thought of fear, anxiety, hatred, unforgiveness, anger, lust, and make it obedient to Christ. These thoughts are from the enemy or from the flesh, and are not in agreement with God’s word. I must counter them with Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
I must be transformed by the renewing of my mind Rom 12:2a
I must come to God as I am. With no preconceived plans, ideas, hopes. Just as I am, to receive what He has for me. Because what He has for me is a good and perfect gift. But I can’t even see His gift if I come with my baggage, and my preconceived solutions.
…….then you will be able to to test and approve what God’s will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Isaiah 55:7-8 Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him, and to our God for He will freely pardon. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways.”
Help me Lord Jesus, to let go of my way and my thoughts, and come to you surrendered, and ready to hear what you are really saying.
